MR STATIK

BIOGRAPHY

Originally influenced by the 90’s breakbeat and early hardcore scene, Mr. Statik gained international recognition in the contemporary techno scene as a long standing contributor to the community. In the beginning of 2005 he formed the Mud Max project alongside Motek, which saw releases out on Balkon and Ware. The following year saw the beginning of Mr. Statik’s solo work, signing his first EPs to Karloff, Stock5 and Octopus with tracks that embraced his moodier and more atmospheric side to techno.

In 2007 Statik split his time between his local residency at Fetisch and his growing international bookings, including appearances at Monegros Festival and Berlin’s legendary Tresor nights. In 2008, he released on UK’s Immigrant Recordings as well as Berlin’s Rotary Cocktail and Perplex labels. Statik continued on to produce records on the likes of Mo’s Ferry and BPitch’s sister label, Memo. In 2011 his debut EP, “Even Giants Have a Soft Spot” was released on BPitch Control. His comeback on Rotary Cocktail recordings is the first of many projects to see the light in 2013, including a sleuth of records and international appearances as well as joining Berlin’s Red Bull Music Academy.

In 2014, Mr. Statik saw a diverse set of releases, including his debut EP on Karat records, his Amam release as his Steampunk’d alias with Lee Burton and his grittier interpretation of modern techno under The Magnecian mantle on Autochtone records. The fruits of these efforts are about to hit stores towards the end of the year and 2016, with Stathis’ first drop on Holic Trax paving the way.
